Environment & Planning Law

HLH specialises in Environment & Planning Law and provides expert legal services with a team of lawyers that practice solely in these jurisdictions. We have a strong cross-jurisdictional team to ensure the best results for our clients.

At HLH we:-

  • Advise developer clients on the best potential for their particular property or direct them to the appropriate architect / planner / designer for further advice;
  • Attend site inspections with clients or with appointed consultants. Our primary focus is to achieve a beneficial result for our clients;
  • Negotiate with local Councils and sometimes suggest changes to a client's design expectations where this does not disadvantage the return or to avoid an appeal to the Land & Environment Court; and
  • Assist and act on many smaller matters such as applications for approval for carports, balconies or decks and Council Orders appeals and prosecutions, through to SEPP SL appeals (housing for aged and disabled persons) as well as applications for blocks of home units, commercial premises, rural subdivisions - the list is ongoing.
